annanotbob's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd have someone else instead Back from seeing Tim Minchin who wasn't really all that. Not good enough for a two part set - would have been a better gig with a support act and an edited version. He's more of a twat than I'd noticed before, but the combination of bare feet, scruffy long hair and eye make up on men has always worked for me. They have mostly been twats actually, now I think of it, which is probably why I'm happy being single. There's the nano launch party tomorrow night at this earnest bloody vegan cafe the other side of town. It's usually in a pub, but they're all too noisy at weekends. I'm having a bit of an anxiety moment about going, but I think I shall make myself. I've been to enough of them not to be over-excited - the other novelists are mostly post-grad scientists writing some kind of weird shit in genres whose names signify absolute zero to me, like steamer-punk. I mean, what the fuck is steamer-punk? It gets you focused though, going to a meeting, and there will be badges and stickers and probably challenges - all generally acknowledged to be vital aspects of novel-writing. I've been trying to remember what I did today but if there was anything I've forgotten it. I know I drove to the gym for a swim as the sun was going down, as there are pictures to prove it:
and I came home, a bit later:
Grateful for: feeling a bit steadier, if lacking in the old vavavoom, friends both here and here; plans; dreams; Bobcat Happy weekend xxxx 12:56 a.m. - 30/10/2009 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
