annanotbob's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd like to ride my bicycle with you

I turned on the radio when I got in the car and they were playing Graham Parker and the Rumour:

Fabulous - I used to be so in love with Graham Parker. One of the all-time greatest live acts. I had a ticket to see him, Bob Dylan and Joan Armatrading at a one day gig in August 1978, but I was three weeks overdue with Sammie and gave it away.

Jan's just been round to use the computer:

I love that photo - I didn't see anything apart from Jan when I took it, but as soon as it appeared on the screen, oh my god, look at all that stuff. But it's not every day that there's a CD from Hil , my swimming goggles, a beer bottle and that particular range of dirty cups. I'd say it's from the Emin
school, wouldn't you?.

Daily Bobcat - she may not look it, but she's soaking:

I can't believe it's taken so long to get a picture of her wet. She loves the rain and getting drenched, going endlessly in and out, in and out, coming in through the door and round the corner at a million miles an hour and onto my lap before I can stop her. When I was teaching and had serious GCSE coursework to mark, I'd use the table in the kitchen. If it was dry, no sign of Bob. When it was wet, she'd be in and out of the catflap every ten minutes, straight in, up onto the table, across everything that was laid out, leaving a trail of muddy paw-prints across whatever it was. 'Miss!!! Look at this! I never handed it in with all this on it, Miss!' Yeah yeah, shut up.

Me and Millie went to the park today. She always sits down next to me the moment I stop to have a smoke and do the suduko in the paper:

I tried to get a photo of her on the bench, but every time I stood up she followed me. It's a nice bench though, even without a cute dog:

I just love Millie. She's such good, undemanding company, trotting along at my side if we go out, decked out on the bed or sofa if we're at home. If I cry, she comes and sits next to me and tries to lick my face. I am NOT having that, but I appreciate the gesture. You know?

I took her up to an ancient hill fort by the golf course this afternoon and discovered that it's the place I've been after, with a good view of my hillside:

It wasn't a very clear day and the wind was too strong for me to hold the camera steady, but I shall go back until I get a good shot. I think I'd like to make a big picture of it in some form - maybe that will be my mosaic. Or a collage or something. What d'you reckon? I had a bash at editing the photo, which I've never even attempted before, zooming in on the area round my street. It was not a great success and that program seems to have crashed, but I'll try again in the morning when I'm not quite so stoned.

Sara's been upstairs all day making something that involves strings of cut-out people:

Every now and then she comes and sits down here with a magazine, finds blocks of colour and cuts out some more. Nice.

So, what with all that, more papier mache at the art group this morning, writing three official, benefit related letters, cooking four cottage pies (2 meat, 2 veggie, one of each for tonight and another for the freezer), I've kept myself busy. During most of it I've been whingeing on, 'And the bloody doctor says I'm bipolar, but if I am, where's the up side, that's what I want to know?' Yack yack yack, on and on all day, as I rushed about, barely sitting still for a minute. Hmm. Didn't even notice till I read through...
