annanotbob's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've seen fire and I've seen rain

I've been with my friend Julia so far today, which would have been her fiftieth birthday. I still feel fucking angry with her for leaving me behind, really fucking angry.

At the writing group today we were asked to write a quick poem about time, as a warm-up. This came out, in five minutes flat:

Time was, we danced to the pub, bellowing stupidity into the dark night.

Time was, you crashed off that bike and lay broken in a hospital bed.

Time was, we lost each other, and missed each other more than we liked.

Time was, driving round Spain, stuck in second gear, laughing all the day.

Time was, you were alive on your birthday, time was.

For Julia, with love always
