annanotbob's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah yeah

Sara and I shared a pipe earlier (just grass, not crack or anything - Jesus, do you think I have no sense of responsibility?) and have had a lovely evening hurling abuse at American Idol. Well, at Andrew Lloyd fucking Webber, I mean - what a loathsome little creep he is, what tedious songs he writes. But then there was sweet Leona, reminding me why I love it. If you'd seen her on the X factor just a couple of years ago, with that voice and so shy, so modest, and always about the singing - man, your heart would have swelled with pride like mine did, seeing her there on American telly, a proper star. Well, if you'd had a pipe of this grass it would have done. Then Carly Smithson got voted off, which was a bummer, so we started fucking about with my camera.

After a mere four months of asking, Sara showed me how to turn off the flash and stop everything indoors looking like a crime scene (the handbook makes my head hurt). The downside is that you have to hold the camera steady, but I did get one pic that wasn't a total blur - my girl and some lovely tulips:

I've downloaded an Iranian, feminist, feature-length, black and white animated film, which was given 4 stars in The Guardian. Funny and clever apparently. I actually thought for a moment about the ethics of it - I have no problems with free downloads for the most part, because I don't have it in me to care about millionaires not getting another few quid from me, but this is a tiny independent project so it's different. In the end I went for it because otherwise I'd never have the chance to see the fucking thing at all - it won't be on at the multiplex and is unlikely to ever be stocked by schlockbusters, so they wouldn't be getting my money anyway. While I was there I got In the Mood for Love, which I've never once had the opportunity to see, and I'm probably going to try and get that new American film Russell Brand is in, so the ethics didn't trouble me for long.

I sometimes try and formulate a coherent feminist response to Russell Brand. Other times I don't bother.

Grateful for:
1. Cottage pie for tea, made the other day and none the worse for a bit of a lurk in the fridge
2. A nap this afternoon with Milliedog on one side of me and Bobcat the other, all purring and snuffling and snoring together
3. Having a laugh with my girlie - that should be number one really, but no, she's nearly 25 (fuck, next Saturday), so it's appropriate that I think of my belly and my snoozes before her. Good though. I really am grateful to have a proper laughing-about time with her every now and then.
4. Nearly May and the spectre of frost is almost gone from our gardens. I've been thinking about my containers and how to surround myself with scented beauty over the coming months.
5. The doctor came me another scrip for some Valium for 'just in case'. I do feel so much safer knowing I have the option of turning it all off for a bit.

Buenas noches, amigas xxx
